Box 144, Long Beach, MS 39560 May 23, 2019 • Volume 3, Number 5 • “Good News You Can Use” Long Beach to host Jeepin the Coast activities Long Beach will be the host city for the 2019 Jeepin the Coast (JTC) event, which draws hun- dreds of Jeep owners to the Mis- sissippi Gulf Coast for a weekend of activities. Set for May 30 through June 2, the event will include a pool party, several meet and greet opportunities, a scavenger hunt, a few beach crawl, live entertain- ment, a Jeep show, and a parade through downtown Long Beach. Awards will also be given. JTC unites Jeepers with its annu- al event on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, drawing Jeep owners to Special to Long Beach Breeze the 26-mile-long beach. Organiz- ers set up multiple events in the coastal cities for Jeepers to either stay together or branch off into their own adventure throughout the coast. Events begin at 6 p.m. on Thurs- day, May 30. Specific Long Lady Bearcats track team named State Champions Capturing the 5A state champi- onship closes out a stellar 2019 season for the Long Beach Lady Bearcats track team. Gulf Coast fans are cheering the entire squad and coach- es for the MHSAA triumph at the state meet in in early May. It doesn’t get any better than first place for the Long Beach girls, who took the honor at the Woody Barnett Track and Field Complex at Pearl High. She also ran on the 4X100 meter relay that only lost twice the entire sea- son. Running for the MSU Lady Bulldogs track squad next sea- son, Pickens “will be missed tre- mendously,” Felder said. He also saluted the contribu- tions of young track sensation Brooklyn Biancamano. At the state meet, Biancamano won four events: the 3200, 1600, 800 and 4 Beach events start on Friday, May 31, with registration and a Vendor Village set up on the Town Green. Saturday fun will include a photo session at 10 a.m. at Long Beach Harbor, along with a Long Beach beach crawl and a Shine & Show in down- town Long Beach, followed by the “Jeep Only” parade begin- ning at 6 p.m. The All Nighters will take the stage on the Town Green in the afternoon, and Cate- gory 6 will entertain at the block party there in the evening.
