Special Author Event at the Pass Christian Library on June 1st

It’s time for the Summer Library Program! Our program is “not just for kids” so we’ll kick off the adult and young adult portion of our summer library program with a special “Evening with Author Maurice Carlos Ruffin” on Thursday, June 1st at 6pm. Maurice Carlos Ruffin is the author of The Ones That Don’t Say They Love You (2021) and We Cast a Shadow (2020).
The Ones That Don’t Say They Love You is a collection of raucous stories that offer a panoramic view of New Orleans (NPR). It was a New York Times Editor’s Choice, a finalist for the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence, and longlisted for the Story Prize. Ruffin’s first book, We Cast a Shadow, was also a New York Times Editor’s Choice and a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and the PEN America Open Book Prize. That electrifying, hallucinatory novel is at once a keen satire of surviving racism in America and a profoundly moving family story. At its center is a father who just wants his son to thrive in a broken world.
We are excited to partner with Pass Christian Books to present this special event. The Pass Christian Library is located at 111 Hiern Avenue. For further information, you can contact the library at 228-452-4596 or email passchristianlibrary@gmail.com.
