Go the Extra Smile 5K planned for Oct. 7

Local residents are invited to join the Mississippi Dental Hygienists’ Association (MDHA) as they host their second annual Go the Extra Smile 5K.

The event, planned for Saturday, October 7, at 8 a.m. at the Harper McCaughan Town Green, is designed for not only those in the dental field, but for everyone. Kids, family and friends of all ages are encouraged to attend. There will be a timed event, and first, second and third place finishers will win prizes.

Registration cost is $35. All early registrants will receive a t-shirt and a grab bag. A group registration rate is available for groups of more than five registrants.

All proceeds will go towards scholarship funding for students and will also fund a donation to a local charity to help raise awareness on oral health.

Those who wish to sign up in advance may visit MississippiADHA.org. The signup link is under the “Events” tab. Race-day registration will be available beginning at 7 a.m. on site. Late registrants are not guaranteed a t-shirt.

The race will begin at 8 a.m., and participants can run, jog or walk. All ages and fitness levels are welcome.
