Library programs aim to dispel computer fears

The Pass Post

The Pass Christian library continues to offer programs for those who want to learn more about their computers and computerized devices and dispel fears about using them.

Two upcoming sessions on Thursday, August 22, will focus on the basics of using handheld devices and e-services.

The first session, focusing on iPads, tablets and smartphones, will start at 1 p.m. Participants do not have to own one of the devices to attend and learn about the basics of using them, including how to download and install applications (“apps”). Part 1 of the session will focus on Apple products, while Part 2 will feature Android devices. Those who have devices are encouraged to bring them to the session.

The second session, which will begin at 2:15 p.m., will showcase the free e-services offered by the Harrison County Library System. Attendees will learn about Hoopla, Kanopy, Rocket Languages and Universal Class.  They will also explore the library’s online catalog and learn how to search, request and renew available items.

Both sessions will be held in the library conference room.

No experience is necessary, and the classes are free and open to the public. However, class size is limited, and reservations are recommended.
