Hello Long Beach!  Here is what’s happening at the Long Beach Public Library next month!

We’d like to thank everyone for stopping by the Long Beach Public Library’s booth during the City of Long Beach’s 4th of July Jubilee.  We extended the book sale another week (at your request) and appreciate all the support you have shown your library.

Preschool Story Time will continue through August.  Held each Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the children’s wing, this program is geared towards the four-and-under crowd.  We read a story, make a craft, and dance to their favorite children’s songs.

There are no meetings for the Long Beach Library Board of Trustees in August.  The Friends of the Long Beach Public Library will meet next in September.

The library will be closed Saturday, August 30, through Monday, September 1, for Labor Day.  We will reopen on Tuesday, September 2, at 9 a.m.

On September 27, from 6 to 9 p.m., the library will be having a Sock Hop at the Long Beach Recreation Center to raise funds for new patron computers.  Tickets can be purchased in advance, beginning August 1, at the library front desk.  There will be live music, food, fun and games.  We hope that this event draws everyone who enjoys music of the 50s and 60s and wants to come dressed as some of their favorite icons from those decades.  Did someone say costume contest?  Watch for the flyer to be posted soon on our Facebook page with all the details…

And, as a final reminder, the library’s hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

For more information about any of our events or offerings, please give us a call at 228-863-0711. The library is located at 209 Jeff Davis Avenue.

As always, we thank everyone for their continued support and patronage, and stay safe!
