A splash of color covers Long Beach as umbrellas hung in downtown area

Rain or shine, residents and visitors alike will catch a glimpse of a palette of colorful umbrellas now hung between Long Beach City Hall and the Long Beach Library.

“Visitors to downtown Long Beach will notice a colorful new addition between City Hall and the Long Beach Public Library,” says Long Beach Main Street Director Courtney Cuevas-Welch. “The City recently completed the installation of vibrant overhead umbrellas and decorative string lights, creating an inviting public space for residents and visitors to enjoy.”

Funded by a grant to revitalize the downtown area, the project was designed to enhance the walkability and charm of downtown while providing a unique backdrop for community events, photos and everyday visits.

“The installation is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to beautify public spaces and continue investing in the downtown area,” says Cuevas-Welch. “Whether attending an event, visiting local businesses, or simply taking an evening stroll, the new display offers another reason to experience all that downtown Long Beach has to offer.”
