Science Café on the Coast to host “Religion and the Afterlife”
Special to The Pass Post
Science Café on the Coast, a collaboration between The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Gulf Coast Library, Harrison County Library System, Long Beach Public Library, the Hancock County Library System, Infinity Science Center and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, is partnering with the One Book, One Pass Community Read Project and the Pass Christian Library to host a presentation on “Religion and the Afterlife” on Friday, October 16, at 5 p.m. at the Pass Christian Public Library.
The community is invited to join USM Professor Amy Slagle for a talk on religion and the afterlife with discussion of near-death experiences.
The event offers those with minimal background in science the chance to meet and discuss scientific issues in a relaxed social setting. The 2026 One Book One Pass Community Read Project author is Sebastian Junger, and the selected title is In My Time of Dying: How I Came Face to Face with the Idea of an Afterlife. Junger will visit Pass Christian in November for an author presentation.
Admission is free and open to the public with light refreshments available. The Pass Christian Public Library is located at 111 Hiern Avenue. For more information, call the library at 228-452-4596.
