City of Long Beach Asks For Volunteer Evacuation Saturday Evening
The City of Long Beach is asking for a volunteer evacuation of low-lying areas west of Jeff Davis Avenue south of the CSX Railroad starting this evening Saturday August 28th. Highway 90 will become impassable as the storm surge nears our area. Sandbag stations will no longer be supplied after this evening Saturday August 28th. Long Beach Harbor will close this evening at 10 PM and will not reopen till after the storm passes through our area. We ask that you don’t go to the harbor for sight seeing as the storm rolls in as we have significant damage from Hurricane Zeta and areas aren’t safe. When barricades are place in intersections or on roads they are placed there for your safety. Long Beach Police Department will be on full patrol and will ticket people going around barricades.
