Long Beach natives Sydney Spataro and Aubrey Wawrek will be headed to the playoffs with the Pearl River Community College women's soccer team. The two freshmen have featured prominently for the Wildcats in their seven-win season so far.
Spataro has played in 13 games (12 starts) for the Wildcats. The Long Beach High School graduate has scored one goal and assisted on three from the midfield this season.
Wawrek, a forward, has featured in eight games for the Wildcats. The Our Lady Academy graduate has made four starts and tallied one goal this season.
The Wildcats have a 7-5-2 record overall and will host Itawamba Community College in the first round of the MACCC Playoffs. Kickoff from Poplarville on Tuesday is set for 6:00 p.m.
Former Long Beach men's soccer standouts Kevin Treminio and Nathaniel Mink are playoff bound. Both players played a major part in the Bearcats' four-year run of state championship game appearances, and they are now playing a part in Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College's run to the postseason. The nationally-ranked Bulldogs clinched a playoff spot on Tuesday.
Treminio, a sophomore midfielder, has been a mainstay in the team's lineup this season. He has featured in 14 games, making 13 starts in the process.
Mink, a freshman defender, was named MVP of the Coast All-Star Game last year. He has played in seven games for the Bulldogs in his debut season.
The 11th-ranked Bulldogs currently have a 9-5-1 overall record. They clinched the two-seed in the MACCC South Division and will host Northwest Mississippi Community College next Tuesday. Kickoff from Perkinston will be at 6:00 p.m
