GCIACS plans annual dinner and dance

The Gulf Coast Italian American Cultural Society (GCIACS) will sponsor its eighth annual Columbus Day dinner and dance on Saturday, October 9, at the Great Southern Club restaurant, which is located on the 15th floor of the Hancock Building, at 2410 14th Street in Gulfport.

Patrick Ross Campesi, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will be the keynote speaker. Campesi is the Chair of the Young Professional Italians, Vice-President of the Louisiana St. Expedite Lodge,

and a Counselor of the ISDA Southeast Region.

The Honorable Steven M. Palazzo, U.S. Congressman, Mississippi 4th District, will also speak, and The Honorable Frank Maselli, the Honorary Consul of Italy at New Orleans will sing the national anthems.

“An exquisite Italian buffet will be prepared by the chefs,” said Denise Bartula, assistant

manager of the Great Southern Club. It will include antipasto Italiano, caprese salad, Caesar salad, carved roast beef, chicken marsala, penne pasta with tomato sauce, a vegetable medley, Italian green beans, and garlic bread and butter. Assorted dessert will include tiramisu, cheesecake, pies and cobbler. Coffee and iced tea, as well as moscato or cabernet sauvignon will be served.

The event will have live music and dancing, featuring vocalist Mishee Stoebner.

The cost to attend is $50 for GCIACS members and $55 for non-members. To purchase a ticket, send a check payable to “GCIACS” no later than October 7 to GCIACS, 2600 Santa Rosa Cove, Biloxi, MS 39531.
