Special to Long Beach Breeze

Last month, Charleigh McClain of Long Beach was crowned National American Miss Mississippi Princess, a title that only one girl in the 4 to 6 age group walks away with each year.

McClain is six years old and has been active in the community. She has written letters to patients in nursing homes, donated blankets and socks to nursing homes and volunteered at Feed My Sheep passing out dinners to those in need. She has also donated books to a local daycare in Long Beach. McClain is also very active in baton twirling and cheerleading, and she is a member of Showoff’s All-Star Twirlers competition team, Ambassador group and Cheer Zone competition team.

McClain is currently preparing for a big donation drive to gather donations for children in need. Her parents are Brandon McClain and Eboni Hicks, and she attends W.J. Quarles Elementary School.

In November, McClain will be headed to Orlando to compete on the national level.
