Palazzo Cosigns Letter Expressing Concerns Over Backlog of Veterans Records Requests

Posted

Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) recently joined 233 lawmakers in a bipartisan letter to the National Archives and Records Administration Director, Scott Levins, expressing concerns over the rising number of unprocessed requests for military personnel, health, and medical records from the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) amidst the pandemic.

Concerns are expressed in the letter that Military personnel and their families must wait for requested records in order to qualify for numerous benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. The letter also sites that the COVID-19 virus is the culprit behind these requests being unfulfilled.

The letter goes on to ask that the NPRC re-evaluate it's procedures in filling these requests in order to keep their workforce safe, and to implement and share new working protocols to reduce the backlog of requests.
