Scott Naugle of Pass Christian has been named a board member of the Mississippi Arts Commission Board of Commissioners. Naugle will join the board officially on October 3 at the MAC board meeting in Jackson.

Scott Naugle is currently the President of Consumer Solutions at Cadence Insurance. Naugle also is a co-owner of Pass Books & Cat Island Coffeehouse in Pass Christian and Gulfport.

"I am honored to join the leadership of such a prestigious organization," said Naugle. "MAC's work to support arts programs throughout the state is vital to our creative industry. I look forward to representing the coast and my community."

In addition to his work with the Mississippi Arts Commission, Naugle serves as Chairperson of the Historic Preservation Committee for the city of Pass Christian, a board member of the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters, a board member of the Mississippi Book Festival, and a committee member of One Book One Pass.

“We are fortunate to have Scott join the board,” said board chair Marie Sanderson. “He has a keen understanding of the important role our arts community plays across the Mississippi Gulf Coast and our entire state.”

The Mississippi Arts Commission is governed by a 15-member volunteer Board of Commissioners. Bringing expertise in the arts, business, and community affairs, the Commissioners represent the citizens of Mississippi and are appointed by the governor to five-year terms. The Commissioners meet quarterly to establish program objectives, recommend budgets, assess needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and award grants. All Commission meetings are open to the public.
