Special to Long Beach Breeze

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul thanks the many organizations and friends that helped make its hurricane recovery efforts successful. The Long Beach Fire Department, the citizens of Long Beach, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society Conferences across the coast donated much-needed supplies.

The group especially thanks David Fayard of Ace Data Storage for donating the semi-truck to carry aid to the greatly impacted community of Larose, Louisiana. The truck was filled with twenty-six pallets of cleaning supplies and food.

"With the memory of the destruction in our area after Hurricane Katrina,” said Mike Barry, president of the group, “we must always pay it forward. It was an honor to be able to bring smiles, hope, and relief to the people of Louisiana. We thank everyone for helping us to help others."
