Special Ward 3 election set for Oct. 13
A special election for Ward 3 Alderman will be held on Tuesday, October 13, for the seat vacated by Kelly Griffin, who resigned at the Board of Aldermen’s September 1 meeting.
Anyone wishing to run for the position must qualify twenty days prior to the election by 5 p.m. To qualify, a candidate must submit a petition with the signatures of at least fifty qualified electors from Ward 3 to the City Clerk’s office.
If no candidate receives a majority of votes in the special election, the candidates receiving the highest number of votes will participate in a run-off election to be held on October 27.
Voting will take place at the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus in Hardy Hall, in the Hardy Hall Ball Room – the building next to the Friendship Oak.
