Posted

Our Lady Academy (OLA) senior Aubrey Wawrek of Long Beach recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer for Pearl River Community College (PRCC). Wawrek, a four-year letterman and captain of the OLA Soccer team, was selected to the 2020 Mississippi Coast All-Star Soccer team and has played for the Gulf Coast United Futbol Club for ten years.

“Aubrey is a very versatile player. She can and has played as a forward, midfielder, and also center back,” said head coach Nick Middleton. “What will help Aubrey most at the college level is her toughness. She has wonderful ability and skill but you will not find a kid tougher than Aubrey. I look forward to seeing her progress as a person and soccer player.”

Wawrek, an honors student, is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu AlphaTheta Math Honor Society. She serves as president of the Crescent Athletic Club and is a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and Campus Ministry. In her spare time, Wawrek introduced soccer to young children as a coach for the Mini Kicks club in Gulfport.

“We are proud of Aubrey and wish her the very best in her college career,” said OLA Principal Marilyn Pigott. “She is an outstanding student and athlete. Her dedication and commitment have paved her way to a bright and successful future at PRCC.”
