Second graders at Pass Christian Elementary School embraced the spirit of the Lunar New Year through an engaging celebration filled with learning, writing, and tradition-making. Students explored the holiday’s cultural significance by writing about its traditions as part of their reading and social studies curriculum. Students also participated in the festivities and traditions by wearing red, symbolizing luck and prosperity in the new year. Students also received red envelopes decorated in gold trim with pretend money inside to participate in the tradition of children receiving envelopes for good luck.
This celebration provided a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about different cultures in a meaningful way. Students were excited to connect learning with their celebration. This made the experience even more special. The classroom activities highlighted the school’s commitment to cultural awareness and interactive learning, creating a memorable learning experience for all.
