Long Beach’s annual holiday waterless boat parade, dubbed the “Sea Santa Sail-a-Bration,” will roll along Long Beach streets on the evening of Saturday, December 7.

Sponsored by the Long Beach Community Development Association, a division of Mississippi Main Street Association, the eleventh annual parade will roll through the downtown area at 5:45 p.m. and end at the Harper McCaughan Town Green, where organizers say there will be family-friendly activities, as well as the opportunity to take pictures with Santa himself.

The family-friendly event is expected to start with thousands of spectators and hundreds of participants for the parade of decked-out boats pulled on trailers, followed by the annual Christmas tree lighting, award presentations and family activities. In addition to the much-anticipated photos with Santa, the evening’s festivities will also include a human snow globe and a live snow play area.

Organizers recommend finding a place on the route before the parade begins. Boats will line up in the Long Beach High School parking lot and then travel south on Cleveland Avenue, take a right on Railroad Street, a left on Jeff Davis Avenue, then a left on 5th Street, followed by a left on Burke, ending by parking along the Harper McCaughan Town Green, where the festivities will continue.

Advance registration is required to participate in the parade. Applications submitted ahead of the deadline have a $25 registration fee. Boat owners who wish to participate in the parade will be asked to provide proof of insurance coverage for their vehicle, trailer, boat and/or watercraft that will be in the parade. Entries are limited to a length of sixty-five feet or less, including the tow vehicle.
