Long Beach High School (LBHS) Principal Justin Sutton was recently selected to serve on the State Superintendent’s Mississippi Principal Advisory Council (MPAC).
The MPAC provides direct input to the State Superintendent of Education about critical issues in Mississippi schools. This top group of school leaders participates in discussions with the State Superintendent concerning topics that will lead to the improvement of Mississippi public schools and the opportunities they afford. The goal of the council is to ensure excellent teaching and learning is happening in every classroom in every Mississippi school and that teachers and school leaders have the information, resources and support they need to create successful schools.
“I am deeply honored to be appointed to the State Superintendent’s Principal Advisory Council,” Sutton said. “This opportunity allows me to collaborate with fellow educators and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our schools. I am excited to bring the perspectives and experiences of our community to the table and work towards ensuring that every student in Mississippi has access to an excellent education.”
Sutton is one of twenty-three education professionals from across the state that the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) selected to serve on MPAC for the 2024-25 school year. The MPAC, formed in 2021, now includes forty-two principals representing schools in both urban and rural settings. The MPAC aims to empower principals to discuss topics critical to their success as administrators and to share suggestions on how MDE can assist. In addition, members will provide feedback on a variety of MDE initiatives.
School district officials say that Sutton’s selection to the council is a testament to his dedication, leadership and commitment to educational excellence.
