Celebrate the Gulf festival set for Saturday, April 6

Long Beach Breeze

Established in 1991, the annual Celebrate the Gulf Marine Education Festival is held annually to teach residents and visitors about the importance of the Gulf. Held in coordination with Art in the Pass, the festival is held the first Saturday in April in Pass Christian’s Memorial Park.

The event, designed for all ages, will include over thirty-five exhibitors offering learning opportunities about everything from upland habitats and wildlife to the recreation and commercial services that the Gulf provides.  There will also be live animal shows, free family caricatures, photo booths, and activities for children of all ages.

This year’s festival poster contest was won by Jerry Buckner, and he will be onsite to sign copies. The contest is held annually to select a new poster design that depicts the conservation, recreational or scenic qualities of Mississippi’s coastal resources.  In addition, children’s artwork will be on display from the Children’s Art Contest, and awards will be given out at the festival.

The Student Science Showcase winners will also be on hand to exhibit science projects to the local community. Winners of the Showcase will receive a small scholarship.

Student attendees are encouraged to stop by the registration tent to help their school win the School Attendance Award.

The Celebrate the Gulf festival will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. For more information, visit www.grandbaynerr.org/event/celebrate-the-gulf-marine-education-festival-2025/.

Spanning both Saturday and Sunday, the 27th annual Art in the Pass fine arts festival will be held in War Memorial Park. The vetted fine arts festival typically attracts over one hundred artists from a multitude of states, as well as thousands of visitors from across the Southeast. The event includes art, food, live entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Sunday will also bring art activities for children and the 13th annual Art in the Pass Student Art Show. Students from area high schools will display their works and compete for cash awards and honors.

The Art in the Pass festival begins each day at 10 a.m. and concludes at 5 p.m.  For more information, www.pass-christian.com/event/art-in-the-pass-2/.

War Memorial Park is located at 103 Fleitas Avenue.
