READING MAKES YOU GROW! Pass Christian Elementary School Receives “Books for Ownership” Grant from Reading is Fundamental

Pass Christian Elementary School is thrilled to announce its selection as a recipient of the Books for Ownership grant from Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the nation’s largest children’s literacy nonprofit. This exciting opportunity allowed the school to provide two brand-new, free books to every student in grades Pre-K through fifth.
The Books for Ownership program, RIF’s flagship initiative, empowers children to select new, age-appropriate books to own, supporting a culture of literacy and sparking a lifelong love of reading. With over 415 million books distributed nationwide since 1966, the program aims to increase reading frequency, motivation, confidence, and enjoyment among young readers. It is founded on the belief that when children are given choice and access, they become engaged readers and learning.
In addition to receiving books, students participated in creative bookmark make-and-take craft activity, further personalizing their reading experience and celebrating the joy of literacy.
Pass Christian Elementary is proud to partner with Reading is Fundamental in promoting the power of reading and ensuring every child has the opportunity to build their own home library.
