Pass Christian High School senior Jacoby Johnson was awarded the Bronze Medal at the Department Oratorical Contest, sponsored by the American Legion and held recently at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi.

Observers say that Johnson’s presentation, “The Beauty of The Constitution,” was delivered with both passion and enthusiasm.

“It was an honor for the members of the Donnie Levens American Legion Post 1995 in Long Beach to have sponsored Jacoby, and we wish him success and fortune in his future endeavors,” said Ray Chavaree, Commander of the Donnie Levens American Legion Post 1995 in Long Beach.

Johnson, a 2024 Boys State alumni, was awarded first place at the Department of Mississippi’s Oratorical Contest District 9 competition held previously in Biloxi, where he  was awarded a certificate, a medal, and a cash prize. He then moved on to compete at the next level, winning first place at the Department of Mississippi’s Southern Area Oratorical Contest held in Gulfport, which led to his recent win and Bronze Medal awarded at the Department Oratorical Contest.
