Cannon named Lion’s Band director

Long High School band director Zac Cannon was recently named assistant concert director for the Mississippi Lion’s All-State Band for summer 2026. School officials say that the appointment “reflects Mr. Cannon’s outstanding leadership and dedication to music education — not just in Long Beach, but across the entire state.”

The Mississippi Lion’s All-State Band will travel to Hong Kong, China, next summer to compete for the international championship. They will also have the opportunity to visit Hong Kong Disneyland and tour Honolulu, Hawaii.

“We’re incredibly proud to have Mr. Cannon represent the Long Beach School District on such a global stage,” said the District in a statement. “His passion and commitment continue to inspire our students and shine a spotlight on the excellence of our music program.
