Long Beach Coastal Cleanup set for October 18
Long Beach Breeze
It’s not unusual to spot folks on the beach, even in the fall, but, come October 18, the Long Beach shoreline will be filled with volunteers all set on one mission – to pick up trash and debris along the Long Beach shoreline.
Mississippi Coastal Cleanup has designated Long Beach as their October Monthly Cleanup location, with a focus on the beaches and the shoreline.
With marine debris posing a threat to wildlife, damaging shore systems and detracting from the beauty of the coast, organizers are encouraging Long Beach residents and groups to offer a few volunteer hours to make a lasting difference.
The Long Beach event will begin at the Long Beach Harbor at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 18. Cleanup activities are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Supplies will be provided for all participants.
Groups of any size are welcome. Organizers say the cleanup opportunity is a meaningful way for families, schools, civic clubs, businesses and the community to join together to protect the coast and preserve the natural beauty of Long Beach.
