School district retirees invited to brunch

Special to Long Beach Breeze

The Long Beach Excellence in Education Foundation, in partnership with the Long Beach School District (LBSD), P.E.O Chapter B-Long Beach and Stevens Eye Care will be hosting an upcoming “Thanks a Brunch!” reception for all LBSD retirees.

The event will be held Tuesday, November 18, from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church Community Center on East Beach Boulevard in Long Beach.

Attendees can enjoy a brunch and biscuit bar and have an opportunity to reconnect with friends while learning what’s new at the Long Beach School District. The Foundation and its partners say they hope all retirees will attend and enjoy reminiscing and visiting with their former co-workers and friends.

The Long Beach Excellence in Education Foundation provides support to the Long Beach School District through the award of scholarships to students, the award of grants to staff for educational projects and the sponsorship of several staff and student recognition programs.

P.E.O. is an international philanthropic educational organization working to advance the educational opportunities of women through scholarships, grants, and loans. Chapter B-Long Beach was chartered in March 1930.

Stevens Eye Care is joining as a sponsor of the event this year. Born and raised in Long Beach, ophthalmologist Clayton Stevens, MD, provides eye care support at Stevens Eye Care in Biloxi.

For planning purposes, an RSVP is needed. Retirees who plan to attend or who need more information are asked to phone or text Vivian Ward at 861-2763 or send an email to LBExcellenceInEducation@gmail.com.
