“Shakespeare’s Flowers” focus of Jan. 8 program
Special to The Pass Post
The Pass Christian Public Library and the Pass Christian Garden Club are partnering to host a special garden program with Dr. Gaye Winter. Set for Thursday, January 8, the program will focus on “Shakespeare’s Flowers.”
Flowers have been used for centuries in literature. Shakespeare used flowers – and their meanings – over two hundred times in his plays. The presentation will focus on Shakespeare’s plays and especially the flowers that he mentions in Romeo and Juliet as well as Hamlet.
Winter teaches English at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Her “Shakespeare’s Flowers” presentation won the Mississippi Humanities Council Award in 2020.
This program is free, and the public is invited to attend.
The Pass Christian Library is located at 111 Hiern Avenue. For more information, call the library at 228-452-4596
