PCES STUDENTS GET MENTORSHIP FROM LOCAL ARTIST
Local Artist Partners with PCES 3 Graders for Future Production Pass Christian Elementary School (PCES) is proud to announce a special collaboration between its third-grade students and local artist Denise Hopkins, owner of Denise Hopkins Fine Art in Pass Christian, MS.
Over the course of two weeks, Hopkins is working hands-on with students to create a large-scale original art piece inspired by The Lion King. The collaborative work will be incorporated into the school’s upcoming production of The Lion King and will also be featured at the district’s annual “Arts on the Horizon” showcase.

The project gives students the opportunity to experience the creative process alongside a professional artist — from conceptual design to execution — while learning about scale, collaboration, and artistic storytelling.
The finished piece will play a visible role in the school’s theatrical production before being displayed at Arts on the Horizon, where student work from across the district is highlighted.
Media are invited to visit during the two-week residency to photograph and interview students as they work alongside Hopkins.
