TrueCare Mississippi Hosts “Calling All 228” Health Fair, Drawing Hundreds in Biloxi

TrueCare, in partnership with Magnolia Medical Foundation, hosted “Calling All 228: Ring in a Healthier You” on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the Gruich Community Center in Biloxi. The event welcomed an estimated 350 attendees for a morning focused on heart health, movement, and community wellness.
Held in recognition of American Heart Month and timed for 2/28 in celebration of the 228-area code, the free community health fair featured more than 40 health and community vendors offering screenings, education, and family-friendly activities.
Throughout the event, attendees participated in heart healthy movement opportunities, including yoga, music, and cultural dancing, led by local dance and art organizations. Magnolia Medical Foundation provided blood pressure and glucose checks, helping participants better understand and manage their health.
Several community partners contributed to the day’s success. The Bethel Free Clinic donated $2,000 to Magnolia Medical Foundation so participants could take home boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables. Dr. Tracie Sempier of The University of Southern Mississippi hosted a live cooking demonstration focused on heart healthy meals, with take-home meal kits provided to attendees.
Families also benefited from diapers for qualifying participants, a Child’s Art Corner, kids activities, giveaways, and additional wellness resources.
“Calling All 228 was a powerful example of what can happen when community partners come together to support healthier lives,” said a TrueCare CEO Ashley Thompson. “We were encouraged by the turnout and by the energy in the room as families took advantage of screenings, movement activities, and resources that can make a real difference in their daily lives.”
The event reflected TrueCare Mississippi’s ongoing commitment to improving access to preventive care and promoting healthier outcomes for communities across the Gulf Coast.
