Pass Christian High School Celebrates Students with Day at the Park

Students taking on the Wipeout Inflatable to unlock their inner Ninja Warrior
Earlier this school year, Pass Christian High School was proudly ranked second in the state and first on the Coast, a recognition that reflects the unmatched dedication and hard work of both teachers and students.
To honor this incredible achievement a celebration was organized to recognize and honor that commitment to excellence while giving students an opportunity to relax and enjoy a day together as a school community. So last Tuesday Pass Christian High School students took a well-deserved “brain break” from the whirlwind of March as buses full of students headed to War Memorial Park to celebrate success, boost motivation before the upcoming testing season, and strengthen relationships.
- Students coming together for some friendly competition at the volleyball court
- Students letting themselves be kids again in the park and enjoying the joys of community and friendship.
- Students putting on their metaphorical dancing shoes at the gaming truck
- Students going toe to toe in a heated cornhole competition!
Throughout the park, students found a wide variety of activities to enjoy. A wipeout inflatable challenged students to test their balance, while others gathered at the pavilion for rounds of Bingo and the chance to win fun prizes. Friendly competition could be found across the park with a cornhole tournament, kickball games, pickleball matches, knockerball, and basketball. For those who preferred a different kind of game, a video game truck offered another popular spot for students to gather and unwind.
After hours of sunshine, laughter, and activity, students and teachers were treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, who served jambalaya and burgers. The day ended on a sweet note with a snowball truck on site for dessert, providing the perfect cool treat after an active morning.

- Harrison County Sheriff’s Department hard at work making a waterwatering Jambalaya for our school
- Students enjoying some cool, delicious snowballs to counter the Southern heat and the rush of running around and having fun!
As students boarded the buses to return to campus, it was clear the day had accomplished its goal. Full stomachs, plenty of laughter, and time spent together created an atmosphere of joy, friendship, and relaxation that everyone carried back with them.
Events like this are only possible because of the incredible support of our community. We would like to extend a few very special thank yous for making this day possible: To the PCHS Renaissance Program, which planned and funded the entire event. To the City of Pass Christian Board of Aldermen and city departments for allowing us to use the facilities at War Memorial Park. To Bret Bentz for helping organize and run the kickball tournament. To Sheriff Matt Haley and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department for preparing such a wonderful lunch for our students and staff. To The Pass Christian Police Department for helping ensure safety and assisting with road crossings throughout the event. To Dr. Carla Evers and Dr. Robyn Killebrew for spending time with us and sharing the event through Facebook Live. And last but certainly not least, to Mayor Kenny Torgeson and Victor Pickich for joining us for lunch, and Kirk Kimball, who didn’t hesitate to join in the support by helping wrap hamburgers for students and staff.
While this event celebrated the remarkable achievements of our students, it also highlighted something equally important: taking time to celebrate success and enjoy one another’s company strengthens the motivation, commitment, and sense of community that make those achievements possible. Everyone here at Pass High is incredibly grateful to be a part of such an amazing, supportive, and fun-filled community hat makes it easy to preach our Pirate Pride!
