City establishes temporary permit process for existing business containers
Special to Long Beach Breeze
At the recent Board of Aldermen meeting, the Long Beach Board of Aldermen voted to implement a temporary permitting solution for businesses currently utilizing shipping or storage containers within the City limits.
The action allows existing businesses with containers already in place to apply for a permit through the City’s Building and Permit Office. Approved permits will authorize businesses to maintain their containers for up to 360 days while the City reviews and considers updates to the existing container ordinance.
This temporary measure provides flexibility and continuity for local businesses as City leadership works to evaluate and refine long-term regulations.
Businesses that currently have containers on their property must apply for a permit with the Building and Permit Office, submit their application within sixty days and obtain the permit to remain in compliance.
City officials note this process is intended to support local businesses while ensuring safety, consistency and thoughtful planning for future ordinance adjustments.
For questions or to begin the permitting process, businesses are encouraged to contact the Long Beach Building and Permit Office directly.
