Pass Christian Middle School students have once again proven that excellence in academics is alive and thriving, as they delivered an outstanding performance at the MCTM Seventh and Eighth District Math Competition held in March at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Competing against various schools from across the Coast, the Pass Christian team rose above the competition to claim 1st place overall, sweeping the district and solidifying their reputation as one of the top middle school math programs in the region.
Individually, Pass Christian students also made an impressive mark. The team secured 1st place in both the 8th grade and 7th grade divisions, showcasing depth, talent, and consistent excellence across grade levels. Sarah Dedeaux won first place in the eighth grade division, with Logan Valdes winning first place for 7th.
Building on their district success, Logan and Sarah advanced to the MCTM State Tournament held this past Saturday at Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science in Columbus. Competing against the best middle school mathematicians in the state, Pass Christian continued to shine. Notably, Logan earned an impressive 3rd place finish in the entire state, a significant accomplishment at such a competitive level.
“Their performance at the competition says a lot about the Pass Christian School District’s commitment to excellence in regards to mathematics,” Mrs. McDevitt, eighth grade mathematics teacher at Pass Middle shared. “I couldn’t be more proud of these students!”
With a clean sweep at the district level and a strong showing at state, Pass Christian Middle School continues
to set the standard for academic achievement on the Coast.
