Visit library this summer for all sorts of summer activities

Hello, Long Beach!
Summer Reading is just around the corner, and this summer our theme is “Unearth a Story.” Registration is well underway at the library, but time is running out if you have not done so!
Don’t forget, you can register one of two ways: Check out the library’s website, then click on the Summer Reading button labeled “Unearth a Story;” or visit the library and fill out a registration form in person in the children’s wing.
This year, we are asking that you register all children who will be attending programs. There will be programs for preschoolers, programs for children in grades school (K – 8), and some family events, as well. Preschool programs begin Tuesday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. in the children’s wing, and grade school programs begin on Wednesday, June 3, at 10:30 in the children’s wing. A complete schedule of events is available on the website.
Preschool Story Time will continue through June. It is held each Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the children’s wing. This program is geared towards the 4 and under crowd. We read a story, make a craft, and dance to favorite children’s songs.
There are no meetings scheduled for the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library or the Board of Trustees for the month of June.
Our Sit, Stay, and READ! Program, sponsored by the Visiting Pet Teams of South Mississippi, is really starting to thrive, and we could not be more excited! The next program is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, and begins at 10 a.m. If your child struggles with reading, these trained therapy dogs are not only the perfect audience but also offer a unique solution for children who need encouragement to improve their literacy skills in a nonjudgemental environment. It’s free, and no registration is required. However, we do ask that an adult accompany the child for this event. For more information, please call the library at 228-863-0711.
And, as a final reminder, the library’s hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
For more information about any of our events or offerings, please give us a call at 228-863-0711. The library is located at 209 Jeff Davis Avenue.
As always, we thank everyone for their continued support and patronage and stay safe!
