Special exhibit planned for July 22

Long Beach Breeze

The City of Long Beach and the Long Beach Historical Society have partnered to host a series of special exhibitions at Greenvale, celebrating and preserving the rich history of the community.  The second exhibition in the special series is titled “Tide and Tackle: A Long Beach Coastal Archive.”

The exhibit, which is planned for July 22 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., will highlight Long Beach’s deep connection to the water, from fishing traditions and boating memories to lazy summer days on the shoreline. The exhibit is designed to honor the stories of the generations of families who have cast lines, launched boats and made lifelong memories along the coast.

Those who have photos of summertime memories in Long Beach, fishing trips, beach days, seafood boils, boat rides or any coastal moments are encouraged to message the Long Beach Historical Society on Facebook to have them considered for inclusion in the exhibit.

The Long Beach Historical Society meets quarterly, and the next meeting is July 20 at the Beth Hansen History House at 645 Klondyke Road at 6 p.m. The public is invited.

Greenvale is located at 179 East Old Pass Road.
