Long Beach School District Elementary schools roll out updated car rider patterns

As the Long Beach School District prepares to kick off another, district officials are asking all families with students at Quarles Primary, Harper McCaughan Elementary and Reeves Upper Elementary to review the district’s updated morning and afternoon car rider traffic patterns.

This year, traffic flow at some campuses has changed from previous years. To help ensure a safe, efficient arrival and dismissal for everyone, drivers are asked to familiarize themselves with the new traffic maps before the first day of school.

Drivers are reminded to follow the designated traffic flow shown for their child’s campus and use only the marked loading and unloading areas.

Car rider lines will not open before 2 p.m. Arriving early can interfere with bus operations, school traffic and (if needed) access for emergency vehicles.

All drivers are asked to extend patience, kindness and grace to school officials and other drivers as everyone works through the transition together. District officials say that every change that has been made was done in order to create the safest and most efficient experience possible for students.
