- Markham Mauffray plans to continue his education at the University of Southern Mississippi and study polymer science and engineering. Markham was a very active member of the Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and the Long Beach Mayor’s Youth Council. During high school, he attended the Trent Lott Leadership Program and the Mississippi Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference.

- Emily Roslin will attend the University of Mississippi to study pharmaceutical sciences. At LBHS, she was a standout leader involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Bearcat Buddies, and the Seagull yearbook staff. A dual-enrollment honor student, she earned Who’s Who recognition and was inducted into the LBHS Hall of Fame. Roslin served as Class President, danced with the Bearcat Belles and volunteered with Camp Awesome and MS Gulf Coast Buddy Sports, supporting individuals with special needs. She also served as a peer mediator and attended Magnolia Girls’ State.
In celebration of their 50th class reunion last fall, the Long Beach High School (LBHS) Class of 1975 made a donation to the Long Beach Excellence in Education Foundation to support current Long Beach High School seniors in their pursuit of higher education. This gift funded two $1,000 academic scholarships and provided additional support for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program to help purchase tools, supplie, and equipment essential for training and transition into the workforce.
The two academic scholarship award recipients were Markham Mauffray and Emily Roslin.
The Long Beach Excellence in Education Foundation congratulates the two students on their achievements and extends sincere appreciation to the LBHS Classof1975forinvestinginthefutureofLongBeachstudents.
