Long Beach represented in 2026 Magnolia Girls State

The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Girls State is referred to as a highly regarded, week-long summer leadership and citizenship program for upcoming high school seniors. Participants create and run mock municipal, county, and state governments to learn firsthand how the American democratic process works.
The Long Beach chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary sponsored the eight delegates from Long Beach High School who were accepted into this year’s program. All across the state, participants are selected based on a rigorous application process that illustrates their leadership, character, scholarship, and interest in government.
Long Beach High School delegates included Abby Nevarez, Sadie Barlow, Lainie Champagne, Katelyn Atwell, Alexandra Garcia, Rayleigh Bass, Lillian Oien and Afia Ahmad.
