Long Beach Falls in Double Overtime as Pass Christian Rolls Past Moss Point
by Charlie Rook
It was a night of contrasting results for two Gulf Coast programs Friday, as Long Beach suffered a heartbreaking double-overtime defeat while Pass Christian earned a dominant victory.
Long Beach battled Pascagoula in one of the closest games of the evening, eventually falling 17-10 in double overtime.
The Bearcats kept themselves within striking distance throughout the contest, with neither side able to pull away during regulation. The matchup ultimately required two overtime periods before Pascagoula secured the seven-point victory.
Despite the result, Long Beach showed its ability to compete in a closely contested region matchup.
Meanwhile, Pass Christian enjoyed a much different evening, cruising to a 52-8 victory over Moss Point.
The Pirates delivered an impressive offensive performance, scoring 52 points while limiting Moss Point to just eight. The 44-point victory was another strong showing for Pass Christian as the regular season approaches its conclusion.
Both programs will now turn their attention to next week’s matchups, with Long Beach looking to bounce back and Pass Christian hoping to maintain its momentum.
