Bartlett honored by Parents’ Campaign

In her classroom, at a sporting event, at the Capitol or the grocery store – just about everywhere she goes, Carrie Bartlett is cheering on and standing up for Mississippi public school students. Bartlett, a nineteen-year teacher in the Long Beach School District and a long-time member of The Parents’ Campaign, has been named The Parents’ Campaign’s Member of the Quarter.

The Parents’ Campaign says Bartlett knows the importance of developing strong relationships with legislators and making sure they understand the impact of their actions on her classroom.

A U.S. History and Government teacher who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in political science, Bartlett is known for understanding the importance of being civically engaged and has supported the work of and been instrumental in expanding The Parents’ Campaign’s network along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, sharing the organization’s information broadly and encouraging parents and educators to use their voices in support of children and public schools.

“Carrie knows that advocacy is key to the overall success of public education in Mississippi,” says Holly Dean, Director of Member Services for The Parents’ Campaign. “As a public school mom and teacher, she is a well-respected source of policy information for other parents and educators, and actively works to increase support of public education in her community.”
