Trucks ‘N’ Tacos inaugural event goes full throttle

Cruisin’ the Coast is going on its twenty-eighth year now that the 27th Annual Cruisin’ the Coast has wrapped, but this year’s popular weeklong event set the stage for a new venue and attraction in Long Beach.
The inaugural Trucks ‘N’ Tacos event unrolled in downtown Long Beach on Thursday, October 5, and Friday, October 6. The two-day event, put on by organizers Quincy Uzzell, Jeff Simpson and Chris Setnikar, was held at the Harper McCaughan Town Green in downtown Long Beach and featured a cruise-in for antique and classic trucks.
“What we’re trying to do is bring in older trucks, and give them a break from being on Highway 90,” said Setnikar, one of three organizers of Trucks ‘N’ Tacos. “We have food and vendors. It’s just a great place for everyone to hang out. We also have a section for all the trucks.”
Dozens of proud truck owners showed off their hotrods and classic four-wheeled beauties.
Several local vendors, including Coastal Soul Custom Cups, set up booths to show off their wares and sell their merchandise.
Event organizers say the debut of Trucks ‘N’ Tacos is off to a great start.
“Day One, we kind of got bombarded with a lot of people, but it was a great day,” Setnikar said. “We filled up four fields, more than the just one field we had planned. Coastal Daiquiri down the street also had a taco special, as well, and we had all the vendors down here, so the first day was a great day, like this day.”
The new, two-day event ended with a free, live concert at the Town Green. Organizers say they plan to hold Trucks ‘N’ Tacos in Long Beach for years to come at future Cruisin’ the Coast events.
