Scouts add drive-up book drop to library

By Guest Columnist Renee Rayburn, LBPL Youth and Technology Services

Looking for a challenge?  Check out the community puzzle table in the reading area of the main wing the next time you visit the library.

Please be aware of the construction going on regarding the new porch and ramp entryway that will face the Town Green.  During this time, patrons will need to enter the library through the Jeff Davis Avenue entrance.  For overnight book returns, please use our new drive-up book drop.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on September 30 for the Girl Scout Troop that completed the new drive-up book return for Long Beach Public Library patrons.  Members of the local community gathered to celebrate with the girls.  Great job, Troop 4617!  We appreciate what you’ve done for your library and its patrons.

There is no meeting planned for the Long Beach Board of Trustees for the month of November.

The Friends of the Long Beach Public Library will meet on Monday, November 4 at 1 p.m. in the meeting room of the main wing.

Family Movie Day will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, in the children’s wing.  We will be showing Dreamworks Pictures’ Spirit.

Preschool story time will continue to be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

The library will be closed for the following holidays in November:

Veterans’ Day

Saturday, November 9, through Monday, November 11

Reopen on Tuesday, November 12 at 9 a.m.

Thanksgiving

Close at noon on Wednesday, November 27, through Saturday, November 30

Reopen on Tuesday, December 2 at 9 a.m.

As a reminder to everyone, the Long Beach Public Library’s hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  We are open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  On Saturdays, we hold our book sale in the main meeting room.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support.  As always, thank you for your patronage, and stay safe!
