From Pirates to Professionals: A Look Inside the College and Career Fair

Recently, Pass Christian High School’s juniors and seniors took an important step toward their futures as they attended the Mississippi Air National Guard College and Career Fair, held at the Trent Lott Combat Readiness Training Center. On Tuesday and Thursday, buses filled with eager upperclassmen rolled out, ready to explore a world of opportunities waiting beyond high school.
The expansive event brought together over forty different colleges, universities, private industries, government organizations, and military recruiters from across the region. Each booth offered something unique—from college admissions information and scholarship opportunities to career training programs and military service pathways. Representatives spoke directly with students, answering questions, sharing resources, and offering personal insight into the many different routes available after high school.
The fair showcased not only academic opportunities but also practical insights into the professional world, allowing students to connect with potential employers and mentors. Participants were encouraged to ask questions, exchange ideas, and even network for future internships or job placements.
For many students, nearing graduation can feel both exciting and overwhelming. The question of “What comes next?” looms large, as it has for generations of students before them. Events like this fair provide valuable insight and reassurance, helping students realize that the possibilities ahead are endless and that their unique skills and passions can lead them in countless directions.
Teachers and chaperones also emphasized how important it is for students to be exposed to these opportunities early. By engaging with recruiters and college representatives face-to-face, students gain not only information but also a sense of empowerment to make informed decisions about their future.
While it’s easy for upperclassmen to get caught up in the day-to-day of their final years—sports, clubs, classes, and memories—the College and Career Fair reminded everyone of the bigger picture. It’s a moment to pause and look ahead to the endless possibilities that lie beyond the walls of their familiar classrooms.
As our students begin to dream, plan, and take bold steps toward life after high school, the Pass Christian community stands proudly behind them. Whether they choose college, career, or service, one thing remains true: once a Pirate, always a Pirate!
