PCHS Kicks Off Second Semester with Service, Leadership, and Pirate Pride

Members of Hope Squad presenting before the Pass Christian City Council
The second semester of the 2025–2026 school year is officially underway at Pass Christian High School, and already our Pirate community is off to an inspiring start. Just two weeks into the semester, students, clubs, and organizations have been busy making a powerful impact both on campus and throughout the community.
On the very first day of the semester, members of our Hope Squad launched their month of Optimism in a big way by addressing the Pass Christian City Council. Students presented a heartfelt and compelling proposal for the creation of a city-wide “Hope Week,” encouraging residents to unite around positivity, mental wellness, and community support. Their efforts paid off — the mayor has officially declared February 8–13 as Hope Week in Pass Christian. We cannot wait to see the uplifting activities our Hope Squad has planned and look forward to celebrating hope together as a community.
While Hope Week preparations are underway, our juniors are already looking ahead to life after graduation. This week, students are taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test, which helps identify career paths that align with students’ strengths and interests. The assessment provides valuable insight into post-high school opportunities, whether in the military, skilled trades, or other career fields, helping students take meaningful steps toward their future.
Service remains a strong focus at PCHS, as the National Honor Society recently hosted another successful blood drive. Donations collected will help save lives while also giving seniors an opportunity to earn a special, red honor cord at graduation and be entered for a scholarship if they reach seven donations in their name. NHS will host its next blood drive on March 18, giving even more students the chance to make a difference.
Our Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, which met for its fourth Leader Lab, continues to make a meaningful impact through service and leadership. Students are currently partnering with the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy on a new project designed to support two important community needs: elderly residents experiencing loneliness and limited access to personal care items, and students who need access to basic hygiene supplies. Working in teams, students will fundraise, plan, promote, assemble, and deliver care kits while building essential leadership, communication, and service-learning skills. Their goal is to create 60 comfort care kits to deliver during visits to residents at two local nursing homes, as well as assemble 100 student hygiene kits to be distributed to high school students in need. We are incredibly proud of the compassion and initiative these student leaders continue to demonstrate.

As we head into the long weekend, PCHS is also participating in the district-wide MLK Day of Service Diaper Drive in partnership with United Way. The project is inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s powerful words: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others,’” encouraging students to give back to the community. Students can bring diaper donations to any Pass Christian School throughout the month of January. All collected diapers will be distributed to families in need right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
With January already halfway complete, Pass Christian High School is charging ahead into a semester filled with community, service, hard work, and excellence. Together, Pirates are committed to finishing the school year strong and continuing to shine with true Pirate pride.
