The City of Long Beach and the Long Beach Garden Club will join the nation in February, celebrating Arbor Day – what more fitting venue for such a celebration than an historic home with deep roots in the Friendly City?

On Thursday, February 19, the public is invited to attend the City’s Arbor Day celebration at 12:30 p.m. The celebration is scheduled to take place at Greenvale, the historic home also known as “the Quarles House,” located at 179 East Old Pass Road.

During last year’s celebration, the Long Beach Garden Club donated five camellia bushes, which they planted Greenvale, the home of Mr. W.J. Quarles, where they continue to enhance the property’s beauty.

Arbor Day is an annual celebration of tree planting each year. The U.S.-based Arbor Day Foundation has helped grow more than five hundred million trees in the past fifty years, improving the overall environment and beauty of the country.
