Preparations are underway for the City of Long Beach’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt, one of the most popular events of the year for youngsters.

Last year, hundreds joined the hunt for plastic eggs with goodies inside scattered across the Harper McCaughan Town Green, and organizers expect they’ll be lining up again this year for the free family-friendly event hosted by the City of Long Beach.

This year, the hunt is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to noon. Parents and youngsters are advised to arrive early, though, and to have their own bags or Easter baskets for the hunt.

There will be three separate egg hunts, with the first hunt starting at 10 a.m. for children two to four years of age, then at 10:45 a.m. for those ages five to seven; and the last hunt starts at 11:15 a.m. for children over the age of seven. In last year’s event, children up to age twelve participated.

There will also be face painting and crafts during the two-hour event, and the Easter Bunny himself will be on hand to take photos.

The March 28 Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled to take place the weekend before Easter, which will be on Sunday, April 5, this year.

The Harper McCaughan Town Green is located at 301 Jeff Davis Avenue.
