Tree with Oak Alley lineage donated to Greenvale

Long Beach Breeze

In celebration of Earth Day, Larry Tucei donated a Live Oak tree that he grew from an acorn that came from a tree at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, Louisiana.

The eleven-year-old tree, which was planted at Greenvale (W.J. Quarles House), was grown from the Jacque Roman Oak, the first tree of an alley of trees that form two rows of fourteen 250-year-old Live Oaks stretching 1/4 mile from the mansion to the Mississippi River. The Jacque Roman Oak was named for the builder of Oak Alley.

Mayor Tim Pierce, the Board of Aldermen, the Long Beach Garden Club and many others attended the ceremony.

Greenvale is located at 179 East Old Pass Road
