Long Beach High celebrates Class of 2021

The Long Beach High School Class of 2021 ended a historic year with a graduation ceremony in front of family and friends on May 19, 2021, at 6 p.m. in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum.

Though the year was unprecedented, the LBHS Class of 2021 continued the tradition of Long Beach graduates being ranked at the top.

This year’s graduating class of 195 had 34 students graduating with high honors, and 54 graduating with honors.

Named as valedictorian was Austin Lam, who scored a perfect score of 36 on the ACT. Named salutatorian was Savannah Hicks, who scored a 35 on the ACT.

In addition, eleven other graduates had a score of 30 or above on the ACT.

The top ten included: Austin Lam, Savannah Hicks, Emma Hughey, Jack McDonald, Sanaa Stough Lacking, Zayne Osborne, Samuel Shirk, Wyatt Dove, Alexa Nanatovich and Reagan Picchi.

Graduates from the LBHS Class of 2021 have accepted over $2.8 million in scholarships, including academic, athletic and military scholarships. Thirty-seven percent of the class plans to attend a four-year university, thirty-nine percent are planning to attend community college, ten percent are joining the military, and fourteen percent plan to enter the workforce.
