Holiday events planned for library

In addition to their regular programming, the Pass Christian Library has several special events planned for the month of December.

On Saturday, December 16, the Visiting Pet Teams of South Mississippi will be at the library for a holiday version of the popular Sit, Stay, READ! Children’s Reading Program. Families can drop in any time between 10 a.m. and noon for children to read holiday-themed books to a four-legged friend.

Participants can expect to see Pet Teams dressed in holiday attire, and the children will receive stickers, coupons and bookmarks as awards for their participation.

Reading session usually last for thirty minutes and provide a fun way for children to improve their communication and reading skills, and the dog-friendly atmosphere provides motivation for them to practice their reading. The program is free, with no need to pre-register. Participating children must not be afraid of or allergic to animals.

On Wednesday, December 20, at 10 a.m., the library will welcome some special guests, as Mrs. Claus and the Christmas Elves stop by for Family Story Time. Mrs. Claus will read her favorite Christmas stories, and the elves will sing and dance with everyone.

Following Story Time, there will be a special Christmas cookie decorating activity for all the children who attend.

The following Wednesday, December 27, the library will offer a special Family Winter Book BINGO Program at 10 a.m. The entire family is invited, and prizes will be books.
