Library returns to pre-COVID business

Hello, Long Beach!

Summer Reading is off to a great start this year at Long Beach Public Library, and we could not be more pleased! It is so nice to welcome our younger patrons and their families back for programs and see the smiles on their faces. Whether they are picking out books or materials to read as a family or on their own or just stopping in to say “Hi,” we are happy to see so many after such a long time. Pardon the expression, but it’s been long “overdue.”

Of the programs we have had so far, I have included pictures of the Long Beach High School Bearcat Players. Their performance on June 9 of “Stinky and Marmalade,” written and directed by member Maddie Badeaux, was just adorable. This is a talented group of young adults. The play consisted of two stories centered around two friends, a bear and a fox, who in turn teach each other how to do something new.

I’d like to remind everyone that the library hours have returned back to returned to pre-COVID-19 business hours. We are now open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., unless there are holidays are involved.

Story time is still only being held on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., but it will now be held at the library in the children’s wing. If something changes, we will let you know.

The next meeting for the Long Beach Board of Trustees will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13.

The library will be closed on Saturday, July 3, through Monday, July 5, for Independence Day but will reopen on Tuesday, July 6, at 9 a.m.

Thank you for your patronage, and continue to stay safe!
