Long Beach Mayor George Bass proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month at the City’s April 5 Board of Aldermen meeting, praising the efforts of local child advocates who have dedicated their lives and careers to helping in the fight against child abuse.

Bass honored and presented the proclamation to Cassidy Redding and Vicki Revell-Smith, both with Canopy South Mississippi Advocacy Center, to a standing ovation by all of the aldermen and people at the meeting.

Canopy South Mississippi Advocacy Center has conducted more than 725 forensic interviews and provided more than 2,141 BOCA VRCA services to children who were sexually and/or physically abused or witnesses to violent crimes in 2021.
