Summer day camps offered at Marine Education Center

The University of Mississippi’s Marine Education Center has opened registration for their 2023 summer camps, which include Sea Camp, Shaggy’s Angler Camp, Sharkheads Shark Fest, Island Adventure Camp, and Ocean Science and Technology Camp. The STEM-rich day camps will offer children who are interested in science and love being outdoors hands-on, immersive learning activities in a unique coastal setting.
Various outdoor activities, such as working aboard a research vessel, beach walking, kayaking, fishing and trail hiking, will be offered.
Week-long camps, available for grades one through twelve, will begin June 5 and will continue through July 14. Prices range from $300 to $450 per camper. Transportation to and from camp and meals are not provided. For a schedule of camp offering dates, ages, and prices, visit UMC.edu/MEC.
Scholarships are available for applicants who meet the eligibility requirement of underserved and underrepresented ethnicities and/or financial need. Scholarship candidates will be selected based on the criteria listed on the scholarship form, and there will be a limit on how many times
a scholarship may be awarded to an eligible camper. One camper can only receive one scholarship per summer for a one-week camp experience; first time campers are given priority over all returning campers. Scholarship applications must be received by May 1.
